Coaching Staff

Head Coach: Jim Koltes

Jim Koltes is entering his 2nd season leading the Rebels.  Jim's experience includes:
 

  • Head Varsity Coach for Rogers High School Girls Hockey team for 2 seasons (2008/09 - 2009/10)
  • Head Varsity Coach for Maple Grove High School Girls Hockey team for 9 seasons (1999/2000-2007/08)
  • Head JV/Asst Varsity Coach Cooper High School Girls Hockey team for 2 seasons.
  • Twice named Section Coach of the Year
  • Twice named MN Wild 3M Section Coach of the Year.
  • Currently the Section 5AA Rep to the MGHCA (Minnesota Girls Hockey Coaches Association).
  • Also was the Section 4AA Rep and 6AA Rep (3 seasons) to the MGHCA
  • Chair for the Coaches Mentorship program.
  • Involved with the Senior Classic, Junior Festival, and Freshman/Sophomore girls hockey programs.
  • Currently the Girls Varsity Softball coach at Maple Grove High School.

 

Jim lives in Champlin with his wife, Becky and their two children, Ian and Cate.

Assistant Coach: Joe Head (Varsity-Defense)

Joe Head is entering his 11th season coaching hockey and 2nd year with Champlin.  Prior to joining the staff his coaching background included:

  • 1 season as an assistant coach for the Park Center boys.
  • 5 seasons as Head JV Coach for the Park Center Girls, and the last
  • 3 seasons as the Head 14UA Girls Coach in OMGHA. 

He is also level 4 certified through USA Hockey.  Currently, Joe teaches physical education at Maple Grove Junior High and also coaches freshman football at Osseo High School and JV softball at Maple Grove High School.

 

JV Co-Head Coach: Aubri Lindberg (Offense)

  • Aubri Lindberg is entering her 2nd year with Champlin as the JV Co-Head Coach.
  • Prior to joining the staff. she was an Assistant Coach for the Coon Rapids Girl's High School Hockey Program from 2008-2010.
  • She played at Anoka High School where she was All-Conference all 4 years and was named captain her senior season.
  • Aubri also is a coach for the Park Center Fastpitch Program and attends school full-time.

 

JV Co-Head Coach: Dennis Osbeck (Defense)

 

  • Dennis Osbeck has over 10 years coaching at Blaine Youth Hockey Association.
  • In 2010, he started up the Minnesota Blizzard AAA Hockey Club which includes 6 teams and coaches the Blizzard U14's and U16's.
  • Over the last 5 years, he was the lead coach of the 97 Minnesota Select's and 97 Minnesota Elite girls Hockey teams.
  •  He also is an assistant coach for Blaine Youth Lacrosse team.
  •  During 2011-2012 he will be Co-Coaching Blaine U19's.
  •  Dennis lives in Ham Lake with his wife Kim and 2 daughters, Abby & Ashley.

    • Goalie Coach: Dan Goettl

    • Dan Goettl has coached multiple sports for CPYHA and CDAA including hockey, football, baseball, softball and basketball.
    • Over the last 6 years, Dan has focused on coaching goalies ranging from 8U through high school for CPYHA and MN Blizzard AAA Hockey Club. 
    • He is a graduate of North Dakota State University.
    • Dan lives in Champlin with his wife, Kris, and their two children, Tylor and Hannah.

     

    Assistant Coach: John Yunkers

    • Working towards Bachelors of Business Management from Northwest Missouri State University
    • Director of Operations, Minnesota Select Volleyball Club
    • Current Head Volleyball Coach, Champlin Park High School
    • Former Head Girls Hockey Coach at Benilde-St. Margaret's and Forest Lake
    • Former Assistant Girls Hockey Coach at Osseo and North Wright County 
    • Former Assistant Women's Hockey Coach at University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point
    • Coached volleyball at all levels from beginners through D2
    • Former Head Volleyball Coach at St. Michael-Albertville
    • Former Head Softball Coach at Maple Grove
