Pat Janostin - Varsity Head Coach
Coach Janostin is in his 3rd year as the head coach with the Rebels High School hockey team. He was part of the Rebel staff that took the Rebels to their first state tournament experience in 1995. Coach Janostin grew up in Western Canada and played high school hockey for the Notre Dame Hounds. He was a 1985 draft pick of the New York Rangers. He played Collegiate hockey for the UMD Bulldogs where he was team captain for 1988-89.
Coach Janostin teaches 6th grade at Jackson Middle School and lives in Champlin with his wife, Sally and two boys, Brendan and Connor.
Bryce Macken - Varsity Assistant Coach
Coach Macken returns for his 3rd year of coaching with the Rebels. He was the first ever captain of the Rebel hockey team back in 1992 - 1993. After his junior year Coach Macken moved to Des Moines, Iowa to play for the Buccaneers (USHL). After 2 years, and a National Championship in the USHL, he entered into his freshman year at St. Cloud State University (WCHA). He was co-captain during his senior year at SCSU. He played one season in the ECHL for the Florida Everblades after college. Soon after his playing career, he joined the coaching staff of the Des Moines Buccaneers. He was anassistant coach for the Bucs for two seasons with a focus on scouting.
Coach Macken lives in Brooklyn Park with his wife, Nancy and their two children, Austin and Bryce.
Matt Grant - Varsity Assistant Coach
Coach Grant returns for his 2nd year of coaching with the Rebels High School hockey team. Coach Grant played traveling and high school hockey in Anchorage, Alaska. He played college hockey at Bethel College from 1996 - 2000. He also coached the Bantam A team in Champlin in 2004 and 2005.
Coach Grant and his wife Michelle have three children, Payton, Ayden and Ryker.
Matt Anderson - Junior Varsity Head Coach
Coach Anderson is new to the Rebel hockey program and is the head JV coach. Coach Anderson grew up in the Anoka area, where played high school hockey from 1988-89. He started his coaching career in Anoka where he help coach the B
Peewees and A Bantams. He then went on to coach the Anoka High School Girls Varsity team as an assistant and head coach for eight years. During that span he lead the team to five state tournament appearances, where their best finish was runner-up.
Coach Anderson teaches 11th Grade Global Studies and IB History in the Social Studies department of Champlin Park
High School. He is also an assistant coach of the Champlin Park Boys Soccer Program. Coach Anderson lives in Ramsey with his wife Michelle and their two children, Maddie and Christian.
Tom Potter - Junior Varsity Assistant Coach
Coach Potter is in his first year as a JV coach. Coach Potter was a defensemen for the Rebels and captain is senior year in 2009 - 2010. After his senior year at Champlin Park, he played high school hockey for the Rebels from 2008 - 2010 and was named captain his senior year. After his senior year at Champlin Park, he then moved down to play Junior A hockey in the WSHL for the Phoenix Polar Bears and helped get the team to the Division Championship game.
Coach Potter is currently attending Dakota County Technical College in Rosemount, Minnesota where he is getting a certification in coaching. When out of school Coach Potter resides in Dayton.
